Beautiful Butter

Today in C3 we learned how to make some butter. Mrs Moore and Mrs Nelson came in and helped us. 4 students from B1 came and helped us as well because they are butter making experts. We took some cream and put some into a jam jar. Then we put in a pinch of salt. We closed the lid and taped it to the jar so it wouldn't leak. We all had turns at shaking it up and down and sideways for about 10 minutes. We saw it turning yellow and it started to get lumpy like butter. We opened up the lid and poured the watery cream into another container then we got a knife and bread and we spread some butter onto the bread and Mrs Moore poured some hundreds and thousands onto our bread and it turned into fairy bread. Mrs Nelson told us some interesting things about butter. In the olden days people used to cover butter in leaves and a layer of cow dung to make it last longer and be cooler. They also used to bury it in a swamp or in the ground for years. It would taste better after a long time and it would be safe from people wanting to steal it.
